That first time you sign an autograph
Does more than make an individual smile
it can make or break your day, speak to you
and in my case touch my soul for a while
It gives you motivation or sense of purpose
it can help shape and focus a dream
that first time could have been the only time
you may have signed yourself or as a member of a team
Who knew signing your name could mean so much
could you have imagined it making ones day
it may not have previously made your performance
but it will for sure in the future change how you play
This evening after playing I had an individual with a disability ask me for my shooting sleeve after the game as I ran out the tunnel at halftime to my locker room. I truly thought would forget. I was so focused on how terrible I was playing that I didn’t stop for one second to think this kid took an interest in me of all of the athletes on the floor and after the game when I saw him I handed him my shooting sleeve with no hesitation. It made me think to write this post having to do wit signing an autograph or giving something to a fan after the game.
Have you ever given an autograph to a fan? Had a fan ask you for something to remember you by? How did it make you feel?
