In the beginning the game is simple
one learns the basics like how to shoot and pass
I could remember my dads intitial lesson,
it was learning to shoot a layup using the glass
In the beginning when I first learned to dribble
the initial concept seemed really hard
It was in this second lesson from my father
“the better the handle, the harder you are to guard l
For me, the hardest part was learning to defend
the art of not letting the man I’m guarding score
in the beginning this seemed nearly impossible
but with each failed attempts I craved for more
In the beginning is where the decision is made
and despite the work required I chose to play
basketball is a game that requires a lot of hard work
but a game that has been part of my life everyday.
This picture is of when I scored my first basket and what I truly believe is when I made the decision that basketball was going to be a part of my life forever.
What was the very first lesson you had playing basketball? Did you teach yourself? Did someone teach you? When did you make the firm decision to play the game of basketball.
